Retailmatics is an independent consulting firm, dedicated to advancing the value of retail systems and data analytics. We specialize in helping retailers solve business problems, through the use of new technologies.
The firm was founded in 2003, to assist in system selection and implementations, as well as helping to re-engineer business process to use their existing systems more effectively.
Since that time, technology has developed rapidly, and retailers have been at the forefront of applying it. In the last 10 years, the promise of RFID, mobile computing, and web commerce have changed the face of the industry. Those that failed to adopt these changes have seen themselves fall behind.
This new technology provides data more accurately, more timely and in greater detail than was ever possible, to the point of data overload.
Now that we know more about the customer, the product, and the supplier than was ever thought possible, a new set of problems emerge. The ability to acquire vast amounts of data quickly has provided the retailer with the potential for a world of insight, but extracting it is difficult, and protecting it is yet more difficult.
Our clients are understanding that yesterday’s reporting and business analytics can only take them so far. Data Science techniques, using sophisticated mathematical algorithms, are the business tools of today. Predictive modeling has become mainstream, and affordable to most.
With convenience and advancement, however, also comes risk. Every day we hear of data breaches, hackers, and information theft. Companies as large as Apple and Amazon, as well as governments and political parties, have all fallen victim. No one is immune.
In the last year, Retailmatics has created a division dedicated to protecting one of the retailers most valuable assets, their data. We believe that any campaign to develop a data-rich environment must start firstly with securing that data
